Baptism is the first sacrament of Initiation and symbolizes and celebrated the beginning of a new life in Jesus Christ.
Baptism welcomes the person into a faith and a faith community …..the Church.
Baptisms takes place the first and last Sunday of each month in St. Patrick’s parish at 1.45pm in St. Patrick’s Church. Baptisms must be booked one month in advance by calling to the office in St. Patrick’s Presbytery, Roden Place.
As part of the preparation for the ceremony of Baptism, parent/parents must attend a preparation/information meeting with St. Patrick’s Parish Baptismal Team.
This is an informal meeting to discuss the implications and deep meaning of this wonderful sacrament. The meeting will cover such issues as signs and symbols of Baptism, the format which the ceremony will take and the areas of opportunity and responsibility on the part of the parent/parents. The preparation meeting lasts for approximately one hour.
Attendance at the preparation meeting must be booked in advance and can be arranged simultaneously with the booking of the Baptism ceremony.
Meetings take place on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 8.00p.m. in the Pastoral Centre (The Magnet)
